ABOUT
The melding of man and machine to transfigure a biological disadvantage into a synthetic strength was designed to be a standard procedure but the results of this joining were unprecedented. It became the spark that re-ignited a passion and the origin story of the pixelgrinder project, a vision that could only be achieved by one who experiences the world through both the biological and the cybernetic; music made with cyborg ears.
With an inherently unique take on the perception of sound, and a passion and background in film, pixelgrinder is the soundtrack to the next hit sci-fi action movie, and that is by design. The project is not just a musical experience, but a cohesive audiovisual experience. Inspired by stories of ingenuity and overcoming hardships, from the layered complexity of Nine Inch Nails to the innovation and adaptability of instrumentalist/youtube guru Andrew Huang, pixelgrinder has carved a niche in the Industrial scene and has ambitions to infect the whole mainframe.
Like all those host to a symbiotic ghost-in-the-machine relationship, pixelgrinder must occasionally engage the R&R process; ‘relent and recharge’. When disconnected from the neural net, pixelgrinder is a friend to nature, world traveler, good old fashioned motorcycle enthusiast and is often described as someone who understands the transformative power of levity. “I have a strong appreciation for artists like HEALTH who can produce music completely seriously but then promote themselves in the silliest of ways” he says.
Sonically, pixelgrinder describes his sound as the sci-fi/cyberpunk equivalent to a natural analog to the artists that inspire him from old-school Gorillaz, to Kraftwerk and all the way to Death Grips. “The most important aspect of making music is to be uncompromisingly yourself and have fun doing it.”
